It is a primary vehicle for communicating technical data. It provides a good summary of how and where contaminants are expected to move and what impacts such movement may have. Hence, it supplies additional information to explain why a problem is a problem, why it is inconsistent with Corrective Action Results, and, therefore, why a response is anticipated. It can help to establish whether there is a likelihood of imminent and substantial endangerment; justify characterization approaches; and prioritize investigation and remedial resources. The theme Conceptual Model figure as a starting point for any case, regardless of the use of the area, thus offer the Workshop on Conceptual Model which will be taught by national and international experts.

Conceptual Model

Vapor intrusion generally occurs when there is a migration of volatile chemicals from contaminated groundwater or soil into an overlying building. Volatile chemicals can emit vapors that may migrate through subsurface soils and into indoor air spaces of overlying buildings in ways similar to that of radon gas seeping into homes. Because of the importance of this route of exposure we will offer the Vapor Intrusion workshop with a schedule of eight hours which will feature national and international experts on this issue.

Vapor Intrusion

It is the practice of demonstrating, in terms of environmental, economic and social indicators, that the benefit of undertaking remediation is greater than its impact and that the optimum remediation solution is selected through the use of a balanced decision-making process. The best solution is remediation that eliminated and /or controls unacceptable risks in a safe and timely manner, and which maximises the overall environmental, social and economic benefits of the remediation work. To learn more about this practice and its tools, we will offer our workshop that will feature the experts in the area.
